On the occasion of the 300th anniversary of the completion of the building of Prince Eugene of Savoy’s spectacular summer residence in 1723, the Belvedere has a magnificent display of its own history. In the words of the Belvedere: “As an architectural ensemble as well as a museum, the Belvedere has stood for the staging of power and representation throughout the ages: as a backdrop for courtly festivals, at times as a royal residence, but also as the scene of the signing of the Austrian State Treaty in 1955”.
I thoroughly recommend visiting the Lower Belvedere and getting a glimpse of the last 300 years of Austria….
